Today I was at Ford Field and had the opportunity to watch all four teams practice. The first three teams, MSU, Villanova, and UConn we're strictly business. For the entire 50 minutes of practice time, the three teams got to work. They ran all types of drills and worked really hard. You can see each player covered in sweat as they were hunched trying to catch their breath. You can tell these guys meant business.

Then came the fourth and final team, UNC. They jogged out onto the court, did a light stretch, and began taking practice shots. Oh so nonchilant. Number one in the nation, who needs to practice?

Then with about 40 minutes left in their practice (mind you, they only have 50 minutes), they decided to put on a show for the crowd. Slam dunk contest, shots from half court, laughing and joking the entire time. At one point, Tyler Hansbrough decided he couldn't dunk without the help of the crowd. So he threw his hands in the air repeatedly as if he was saying "Where's the love Detroit?" So the crowd began to cheer and applaud as Mr. Hansbrough bricked his dunk. Good one. You wanna try that again? Yeah, I thought so too.

20 minutes has now passed, and now it became interaction time. The players and coaches went into the crowd to take pictures (as you can see from my profile picture, I had the opportunity to meet UNC's head coach Roy Williams), sign autographs, and be friendly with the crowd.

I just don't get it. You guys are about to play for a chance to advance to the national championship. Did you guys not learn from your mistake last year? Yes Villanova is the underdog, but lets be serious here. Maybe we should ask American, UCLA, Duke, and Pittsburgh what went wrong. Especially the boys at Duke and Pittsburgh. I wonder how their practices went?

This is practice? Yes Allen, this is UNC's style of practice. Maybe you should join them...
