With two exciting weeks of college football in the books it is now time to look ahead to week three. There are two matchups between top 25 teams and many more interesting games to look forward to this week. It all gets started on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN when No. 14/13 Georgia Tech takes on No. 20/22 Miami (FL). This is an important game in the ACC, as both teams hope to win the Atlantic division and make the ACC Championship game. The winner will get the upper hand early in the season. On Friday, No. 10/10 Boise State hits the road to take on WAC rival Fresno State at 9 p.m. on ESPN. This might be the toughest game remaining on Boise State’s schedule and the only one that could keep them from a perfect regular season. This brings us to Saturday’s slate of games, which is highlighted by No. 19/18 Nebraska heading to Blacksburg to take on No. 13/14 Virginia Tech. This game is really important for Virginia Tech because they already lost to Alabama. A win for Nebraska in a hostile environment would make them legit contenders heading into Big Twelve play. The game can be seen on ABC at 3:30 p.m. A game sure to make a lot of headlines is the Tennessee at No. 1/1 Florida game, which is on CBS at 3:30 p.m. New Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin has already heightened this rivalry by taking shots at Urban Meyer. Too bad Tennessee lost at Rocky Top last week to UCLA. This makes it seem like Florida will have no problem handling the Volunteers in the Swamp. Tim Tebow will also have a chip on his shoulder in this game because he doesn’t like people talking about his coach. Everyone knows that Tebow doesn’t need extra motivation. No. 2/2 Texas looks to get revenge on Texas Tech for dishing the Longhorns their only loss last season. This is the ABC primetime game at 8 p.m. There is no questioning Colt McCoy and the rest of Texas will be ready for this game. But what if the Red Raiders can pull off the shocker again? A very interesting matchup is No. 17/21 Cincinnati traveling to the northwest to take on No. NR/24 Oregon State. This game is at 6:45 p.m. and should be a good indication if Cincinnati is for real again this year. Florida State barley survived to beat Jacksonville State last week and now travels west to take on No. 7/9 BYU at 7 p.m. This game is big for BYU because they could pick up another win for the MWC over a BCS conference. If they beat the Seminoles, that would be another feather in the cap of a conference that is trying to gain credibility as a power conference. Likewise, No. 18/16 Utah of the MWC will get a chance to make a statement for the conference when they travel to Eugene to take on Oregon at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN. Playing in Eugene is tough and this will be a big test for Utah. The Ducks will try to continue to get back on track heading into Pac-10 play after losing to Boise State week one. They beat Purdue last week and looked much better offensively. Here are some other matchups worth noting on Saturday: No. 8/7 California @ Minnesota...noon
