Division Winner: If Tom Brady can stay healthy this season, the New England Patriots should win the AFC East. The Patriots are the most complete team in the division and got better this season with the signings of Fred Taylor and Leigh Bodden, along with the return of Brady. New England won’t run away with the division and win by four or five games; this should be one of the tighter playoff races this season.

Wild Card Team: The Miami Dolphins should win the other Wild Card spot in the AFC this season. The Wildcat offense with the addition of Pat White should be close to unstoppable this season. With the improvements on the defensive side of the ball Miami will be one of the top six teams in the conference this year. The last five weeks of the season should determine if the Dolphins have what it takes to make the playoffs going against the Patriots, away to Jacksonville and Tennessee, then finishing the year at home against Houston and the defending Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

Player on the Rise: Pat White could have the biggest impact of any player on this division. If White and the Dolphins can utilize the Wildcat offense it could be their X-factor against any team. After wanting to be considered a quarterback while most teams saw him as a wide receiver, White ended up on the best team possible for him to use his specific skill set. He shouldn’t be lining up under center a lot, but the chances he does will most likely be big plays for Miami.

Player on the Demise: With emerging star Leon Washington behind him in the depth chart, New York Jets running back Thomas Jones may be on his way out. He is currently being shopped by the Jets and if a team is not willing to make a trade for him, Jones may find himself playing the role of backup in New York. Jones has been solid for the Jets, averaging over 1,200 yards in his two seasons in the Big Apple, but with Washington and rookie Shonn Greene on the roster, Jones may be expendable and benchable.

Division MVP: This award will go to the obvious choice, one of the best quarterbacks in the league—Tom Brady. Brady is coming off major knee surgery from last season, but he and the Patriots say his knee is fine. If he can go back to the pre-injury Tom Brady, with the weapons at his disposal on offense the Patriots should be very difficult to stop this season.
