This week I got the tantrums in on time, so brighten up. There is a lot to get to today.

STEVEN STRASBURG:

Are the Washington Nationals really going to draft this kid out of San Diego State? Not to mention his agent Scott Boras is set to ask for AT LEAST $50 million. Drafting Strasburg is a tremendous gamble for a fragile commodity -- pitching.

If you want PR, just win games. You do not have to go get this over-hyped college pitcher who might not even play for your team right away. The Nats should draft an everyday player who can contribute to their lineup. I understand Washington has a catastrophic losing record and no Cy Young winners, but why would you draft a guy that's going to cause you a money hit. Which leads me to this. (Note to the MLB: There needs to be a salary cap -- possible feature article to come.)

Jeter vs. A-Rod:

The statistics tell me I want Derek Jeter over Alex Rodriguez in "crunchtime." If you look at the career statistics Jeter hits .293 all-time with runners in scoring position while Rodriguez has only hit .273. That's a huge difference. When your batting against guys like Jonathan Papelbon that's serious. Pitchers like Papelbon do not have your average Double A pitcher that's arm is a can of soup.

The truth is, AROD is in the gauntlet of hate and Jeter is loved - for obvious reasons.

This year, Alex Rodriguez has eight home runs. Three of the blasts have been between the first three innings. One of the homers were hit between in the fourth and sixth. And just three of the home runs have been hit in the 8th and 9th inning. Compared to Jeter, that's awful. Jeter has hit nine home runs in the 7th,8th, and 9th innings. AROD is a pushover in the heart of the game. He disintegrates in the clutch.

AROD also hits .100 points more when it's a blowout yet Jeter hits just .180 when the team is winning by four or more... does that not tell you something? The stats tell me something -- AROD can be overrated.
