Final Score: Magic 92, Bobcats 77 All five of the Orlando Magic's starters scored in double figures in Game 2, and the heavily favored 2-seed in the East now has a 2-0 series lead over the Charlotte Bobcats. Rashard Lewis, Matt Barnes, Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, and Vince Carter all scored between 11 and 19 points for the Magic. Carter led the team with 19 points, Howard led all Magic with 9 rebounds, and Nelson had a team-high 5 assists. There were no big numbers in the Magic box score, but Orlando controlled the game from start to finish for a 92-77 victory in Game 2. The Bobcats, on the other hand, were a 2-man team. Stephen Jackson had 27 points, and Gerald Wallace scored 15. No other Charlotte player scored in double figures. Charlotte had 19 turnovers and never got into a rhythm offensively. While Jackson had a game-high 27 points and kept his team in the game during stretches, he didn't have his usual efficient game. Jackson had just 3 assists while committing 7 turnovers. Perhaps he felt the need to take matters into his own hands considering none of his teammates could score. Fellow starters Raymond Felton and Boris Diaw combined for just 9 points. Meanwhile, the Magic had no trouble scoring. The leading 3-point shooting team in the NBA hit 10 shots from behind the arc, and also shot 24 for 35 from the free throw line. That 69% shooting from the line is very sub-par, but they still made 6 more free throws than the Bobcats even attempted. In order for the Bobcats to get back in this series, they will need to be more efficient on both ends of the floor. The Magic never seemed forced into a tough shot in Game 2, and they consistently got stops on the Charlotte offensive set. The series heads to Charlotte for Games 3 and 4, where the Bobcats were very good during the regular season. We'll see if the Bobcats can get back into the series with a Game 3 win. |
