For the No. 14 Penn State Nittany Lions, Saturday’s game in East Lansing against the Michigan State Spartans is must win if Penn State wants any shot at grabbing one of the BCS at-large bids. The two teams will meet for the 27th time and Penn State holds the 13-12-1 advantage.

The Spartans will be looking to solidify a better bowl game as well. They are bowl eligible but a loss for Michigan State (6-5, 4-3) would put them in a low bowl game. With a win they could move up a couple notches in the Big Ten bowls.

A loss for Penn State (9-2, 5-2) would eliminate them from any chance at a BCS bowl game and would put them in the Capital One, Outback, or Champs Sports Bowl most likely.

Evan Royster needs only 10 yards to reach 1,000 rushing yards on the season for the Nittany Lions. Michigan State has a good rush defense, as they allow 105.9 yards per game and only 3.2 yards per carry.

Greg Jones leads the Spartans with 126 tackles and 11 for loss.

Penn State might be without two starters for the game. Both were injured against Indiana last week. WR Chaz Powell and CB A.J. Wallace are both questionable with shoulder injuries.

The Nittany Lions will be without backup running back Brandon Beachum after he tore his ACL last week.

It is an important game for both teams and the action can be see on regional coverage by ABC at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
