On a day when both teams already knew Iowa had lost to Northwestern, the No. 16 Ohio State Buckeyes were the team that took advantage. They went into Beaver Stadium and beat the No. 11 Penn State Nittany Lions 24-7 Saturday.

The game was decided in the trenches where the Buckeyes dominated on both sides of the ball. Daryll Clark rarely had time to throw for Penn State and never looked comfortable in the pocket.

Penn State (8-2, 4-2) was forced into seven three-and-outs in the game and only picked up nine first downs. Clark was 12-28 for 125 yards and an interception. He scored the Nittany Lions only points on a 1-yard QB sneak on fourth and goal with 12:28 left in the second quarter to tie the game at seven.

Graham Zug caught seven of the 12 completions for 96 yards to be the only standout on the Penn State offense.

Ohio State (8-2, 5-1) used a 45-yard punt return by Ray Small to set them up on the nine yard line on their second drive of the game. Terrelle Pryor paid that off with a 7-yard touchdown run.

A Devin Barclay field goal with just over five minutes left in the second quarter gave the Buckeyes the 10-7 halftime lead. They never would look back, as their defense became even more dominant as the game progressed.

A 62-yard touchdown pass from Pryor to DeVier Posey late in the third stanza made it 17-7 and then Pryor connected on a 6-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Saine with 9:37 left in the game to ice the win away.

Pryor was only 8-17 for 125 yards and two touchdowns, but he did not turn the ball over at all. Pryor also ran five times for 50 yards and a touchdown and was the difference maker in his first trip to Happy Valley.

The Buckeyes out rushed Penn State 228 yards to 76 yards; which really speaks to how dominant the lines of Ohio State played.

The Penn State defense also wore down in the second half due to the offense not holding the ball for many plays. Ohio State held a 34:02 to 25:58 advantage in time of possession.

Sean Lee had a game high 14 tackles for the Nittany Lions and Josh Hull added 13.

Cameron Heyward led the Buckeyes with 11 tackles, three of which were for loss and two were sacks. Brian Rolle had 10 tackles and Ross Homan added 10 tackles and an interception.
Penn State will try to rebound next Saturday at home against Indiana, while Ohio State will play in what might be the Big Ten title deciding game when the host Iowa.
