Late in the fourth quarter and down 15-13, quarterback Aaron Rodgers connected with his number one receiver Greg Jennings on a 50-yard touchdown pass to give the Packers the lead for good as they defeated the Bears, 21-15. Al Harris sealed the victory for the Packers by picking off Bears quarterback Jay Cutler on the first play after the touchdown, Cutler’s fourth interception of the night. The Bears defense shut down the Packers offense for most of the game but field position was the key for Green Bay. Six of the Packers 13 drives started at the Green Bay 40-yard-line or better due to turnovers by Cutler and the Bears. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not have a great night on the stat sheet, completing 60% of his passes for 184 yards and a touchdown, but he was able to use the field position his defense got for him and the Packers as a team took advantage. Jay Cutler’s debut for Chicago was a memorable one but for all the wrong reasons. He completed only 47% of his passes with a career high four interceptions and a touchdown. The Bears had every major offensive statistical advantage over Green Bay but they could not overcome the mistakes by Cutler and the offense. Chicago now looks to regroup quickly as the defending Super Bowl Champion Steelers come to Soldier Field next week while the Packers play host to the Cincinnati Bengals at Lambeau Field. |
