After losing the weekend series to the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Detroit Tigers continue on their current 11 game road trip against the St. Louis Cardinals. The inconsistent Tigers offense has scored three runs or less six of the past seven games and hopes to get back on track against Adam Wainwright, who leads all Cardinals starters in both wins and ERA. The Cardinals offense is currently as unpredictable as the Tigers, scoring four runs or fewer in 11 of the past 14 games. The Tigers have ace pitcher Justin Verlander trying to keep the Cardinals bats quiet. Verlander has won seven of his past 10 decisions and currently leads the American League in strikeouts. With two hot starting pitchers on the mound and the current struggles of both offenses expect this to be a low scoring game. This game should be decided by which team is able to get to the others bullpen, and most of the runs should be scored in the later innings. |
