DENVER, C.O. -- After another jugernaught game in Los Angeles, the Lakers travel to the Rocky Mountains for Games 3 & 4 where the Nuggets are undefeated in the 2009 post season. The Pepsi Center may be Denver's home, but after a Game 2 loss in L.A. (Nuggets 106 Lakers 103), Kobe Bryant will be anticipating a win Saturday night. One could argue that George Karl's team should have a 2-0 lead going into Game 3. But after a moronic decision by Karl to put their shortest player (Anthony Carter) in the game to inbound the ball, that's what you get -- a Trevor Arizza steal that caps the game. The "talk of the town" has been Carmelo Anthony who has had two sensational performances in the Staples Center. Melo scored 39 points in their two-point (105-103) loss in L.A. and then came back two nights later to score a "cool" 34. Lets give credit where credit is due. Melo has solidified himself as a top five scorer in the Association. Chauncey Billups told the AP Thursday night after the win,"When you don't have homecourt advantage, you just want to try to steal it however you can and we had a good opportunity in Game 1 and couldn't close out," Billups continued by saying, "Game 2, we learned from our mistakes and closed out. So we stole homecourt advantage and now we just want to try to be aggressive and play like we have been playing on our home floor." (ESPN.com). Either way, we should not be fooled. We knew this was going to be an epic, tatted up, full-fledged brawl of a series. Right? One thing the Lakers are still without... Lamar Odom. Once again, he looms good in the hotel lobby, General Managers drool over athletic talent like this, then they collapse. Odom has scored 17 points in 63 minutes of play. Yuck. Step up because this could be your last time playing with Kobe Bryant.. ever. Game 3 game is yours tonight on ABC HD. Tipoff is set for 9 o' clock p.m. ET. |
