ATLANTA, G.A. -- The Cleveland Cavaliers have advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals after demolishing the Detroit Pistons and the Atlanta Hawks. The Cavs swept both teams in phenomenal fashion. All eight games were won by double-digits, something no team has ever done in NBA playoff history. Last night, the Cavs took care of business in the A.T.L. by beating the Hawks by the score of 84-74. Led by the league's MVP, the Cavs dominated the Hawks in all aspects of the game. "King" James had another one of those "stella" performances, dropping 27 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and dishing out eight assist. In the Hawks defense, they had three key played hobbled with injuries. Marvin Williams, Al Horford, and Joe Johnson were all hurting in this specific series."It's hard to judge this team because we really weren't healthy in this series," said Atlanta coach Mike Woodson, whose team made the second round of the playoffs for the first time in a decade, just four seasons removed from a 13-69 debacle. "We have to get better personnel-wise, but I couldn't be more proud of the guys than I am. We made some major strides this season." (ESPN.com). Cleveland did not just win through Lebron. Cavs fourth-year guard, Delonte West, dropped 21 points himself along with his six dimes. The Cavs have been the "showcase" of the playoffs, cruising for eight straight wins (something no team has done since the 2005 Miami Heat). Cleveland will take on the winner of the Magic-Celts series which is tied up 2-2 at the moment. Another week off for the Cavs may mean one week away from a trip to the NBA Finals. |
