Pittsburgh Penguins vs Washington Capitals >> Caps Look To Take a 2-0 Lead
Written by Jamie McCracken - May 04, 2009

Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby may be on the ice tonight to battle it out, but the full-fledged, underrated star, Evgeni Malkin, will have the challenge of stepping up.

Malkin assisted a goal in Game 1, but no goal. Being a League scoring champion and a two-time Hart Trophy finalist, the third-year center for the Pittsburgh Penguins will need to step his game up if the Pens want to punch back tonight.

No. 71 may not speak much English but he is hassle on the ice along with being team-oriented. Lets not forget that Malkin had 78 assist to go along with his 35 goals during the regular season.

Meanwhile the Caps 21-year-old goaltender, Simeon Varlamov, will need to flourish as he did in Game 1. Varlamov saved 34 shots on goal out of 36. He may be overlooked with Ovechkin taking all the attention, but Varlamov and the rest of the Caps defense will need to be on their A game once again as the Pens high pace offense will surely score more than two goals.

Washington will look to take a 2-0 lead tonight as they faceoff with Pittsburgh in what is suppose to be an "epic" series.
