SALT LAKE CITY, U.T. -- The Los Angeles Lakers plunged Thursday night after shooting 52 percent as a team in the first two games. Game 3 for the Lakers was a disaster as they made just 32-of-87 shots from the field as a team. They will look to change that tonight in EnergySolutions Arena. Game 4 could be a hit or miss for the Utah Jazz. They win; they guarantee themselves at least one more home game. They lose, and who knows what will happen Monday night in L.A.- most likely a loss considering the Jazz have lost 11 straight in the Staples Center. Game 3 for L.A. superstar,, Kobe Bryant was not the prettiest night for someone of his status. Bryant shot 5-of-24 scoring just 18 points. All of the Lakers promise came from Lamar Odom who had 21 points and 14 boards in the 88-86 loss suffered by L.A. in Game 3. With that, it is rumored that Laker coach, Phil Jackson, might throw Odom back into the starting lineup. Of course, this is not something that Odom has not seen with all of the Andrew Bynum injuries over the past two years. Jazz center, Mehmet Okur, is also trying to get back on the court when the ball tips tonight. Okur has been out for two weeks with a strained right hamstring. Okur averaged 17 points and seven boards in the regular season for Jerry Sloan's team. He is also Utah's best three-point shooter at 44 percent. The 6-foot-11 center would be a reliable addition for the Jazz to acquire back into the lineup. (It gives the Lakers more problems with the length of Mehmet.) Carlos Boozer, who tied a team playoff record with 22 rebounds tagged along with 23, helped give the Jazz their first win of the series Thursday night. Utah and Los Angeles will tipoff tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN. The Jazz trail in the series 2-1 to Los Angeles but we all know about the Jazz's home-court advantage (one of the loudest arenas in the NBA). |
