MORGANTOWN, W. Va. -- The No. 6 Louisville Cardinals (25-5, 16-2) won the Big East Conference regular season Championship outright as they defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers (21-10, 10-8) 62-59.

The Cardinals were led by Senior guard, Terrence Williams, who dropped 20 points in the win over the Mountaineers. Williams also had six rebounds, seven assist, and six steals.

Meanwhile, the Mountaineer's senior, Alex Ruoff, chose a wrong time to have the poorest night of his career. Ruoff, who averages 16 points a game and is just one three pointer away from breaking former Mountaineer Kevin Pittsnogle's record, was held scoreless for the first time this year. Ruoff also had six turnovers.

The Mountaineers were led by the tandem of freshman, Devin Eebanks and Kevin Jones. Jones stepped up and had a season-high 19 points. Eebanks added 16 himself.

West Virginia still kept the number seven seed and a first round bye in the Big East Tournament starting next Wednesday in Madison Square Garden.

Louisville will be taking a number one seed into MSG next week after the win. The amazing atmosphere inside the Coliseum was not enough to bother the Cardinals. After the game Terrence Williams told the AP, "This environment was tough, but we've played at Kentucky and at Syracuse with a record crowd all screaming that they hate us," Williams said. "It was different here though. It was all gold and Jerry West was in the crowd."

Louisville will be one tough cookie to knock out of any tournament. They are long, physical, and will wear you down in no time. Louisville will be considered (depending on the outcome of the Big East Tournament) to get a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament, The unsung hero on this team is Earl Clark, who scored 13 points in the Saturday night victory over the Mountaineers. The player who NBA scouts are drooling over is a 6' 9" beast who averages 13 points and eight rebounds a game.

No. 6 Louisville (25-5, 16-2) is an elite college basketball team that will be extremely dangerous come tournament time in a couple weeks. No one will want to play Rick Pitino's squad, that is "fo sho." Pitino's team went to the Elite Eight last season.
