Cincinnati Reds vs Houston Astros >> Arroyo Vs. Hampton
Written by Jamie McCracken - April 20, 2009

Miunte Maid Park will close out a four game series tonight between the Houston Astros and Cincinnati Reds. The Astros (4-8) will try to even up the series after losing two of three against Cinci over the weekend.

Bronson Arroyo will take the mound for Houston tonight as he looks to start this young baseball season with a 3-0 record. Meanwhile, the Reds will throw out their off-season acquisition, Mike Hampton. Hampton (1-1, 2.45) is coming off a remarkable outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier last week where he threw eight strikeouts in six innings with no runs allowed.

The Astros are currently last in the National League Central while the Reds are placed third with a 6-5 record.

If Houston wants to split this series, they will need to hit much better with runners in scoring position. The team went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Reds.

Houston has lost four of six at home due to a poor .333 batting average by the team. Cinci hits much better as a team with a .545 batting average. But the pitching has to be there also. And who better to put on the mound while your in a slump than Mike Hampton. Hampton is 1-1 with a 5.52 ERA in five starts as the visiting pitcher to Cinci. However, Hampton has not faced the Reds since 2003, and has not got a "W" since 2002 against them.

The first pitch is set for 8:05 p.m. ET, in Minute Maid Park in Houston.
