Pittsburgh, P.A. - - It took extra ice hockey, but the Pittsburgh Penguins go up 2-0 in the best of seven series verse the Philadelphia Flyers after a 3-2 overtime victory. Thanks to the 17th year veteran, Bill Guerin, a game-winning overtime goal won the game for the Penguins. Guerin has scored a lot of goals in his career, but not many have came in the playoffs. In fact, Guerin's last post-season goal came in 2000. Guerin told Adam Kimelman of NHL.com, "It's been a couple years since I've been in the playoffs," said Guerin, who was acquired by the Penguins from the last-place New York Islanders at the trade deadline. "To be a part of this feels really good. To be able to contribute feels even better." Once again, Marc-Andre Fleury, who saved 26 out of 27 shots in Game 1, was the difference maker. Fleury may have made the "save of the season" for the Pens as he saved a late third period shot-on-goal with with his "tippy toes." Fleury finished with 38 saves on 40 shot attempts. The Flyers, down 0-2, will travel back to "The City of Brotherly Love" where they will host Game 3 of the best of seven series. The puck will drop Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. |
