Yesterday evening marked the first loss for future Hall of Fame pitcher, Randy Johnson (0-2) at Dodgers Stadium. Helped by Orlando Hudson hitting for the cycle, the Los Angeles Dodgers (5-3) thrashed the San Francisco Giants (2-5) 11-1. Dodger pitcher Chad Billingsley (2-0) out pitched "The Big Unit" by allowing just five hits in seven innings. Billingsley had 11 strikeouts while Johnson had just five boosting his ERA down to 2.00. "The Big Unit" allowed seven runs on eight hits as the Dodgers crushed the the "Bay Area" team. The game marked L.A.'s third straight win. It had been 39 years since the last Dodger, Wes Parker, hit for the cycle, but Hudson quickly changed that yesterday afternoon. "Congratulations to Orlando," Parker said in a statement issued through the Dodgers. "I hope he appreciates he's in a very unique club. I can't believe only two people in 51 years [in Los Angeles]. It's great fun to have a game like that. He'll be on a high for two weeks." (ESPN.com). The crowd of 57,099 marked the highest attendance ever in Dodgers stadium. L.A. will continue their four-game series at home verse the Giants in the second matchup tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 10:10 p.m. ET. |
