Well if you haven't been watching, the Michigan Wolverines have maintained an undefeated record so far this season, and after yesterday's game, there's plenty talk going around in the realm of Big Ten college football in respects to the possibility of the Wolverines continuing on such a winning streak.
Michigan successfully took on the task of defending a long-standing record, yesterday, against Indiana University with it's 17th straight win against the Hoosier football team.
In fact, Indiana University hasn't won a game against Umich since 1987. Most impressive in respects to Michigan football is undoubtedly our offense, and as for the defensive-line, well we'll send out a prayer and keep our fingers crossed -- especially in anticipation for next week's big game against Michigan State University.
Adding fuel to the fire which is the University of Michigan offense, is arguably one of the most exciting players to watch in college football, sophomore quarterback Denard Robinson who with 494 yards lead yet another winning drive for UM Saturday. After connecting on a 42-yard pass, in the game winning play, with 21 seconds left in the 4th quarter, Denard Robinson ran the ball four yards giving Michigan a 42-35 win against Indiana.
Arguably, the game against Indiana should have been in easy victory for the Wolverines; our offense can't be stopped. The 19th-ranked Wolverines had 574 yards of offense, averaging 12.8 a play. But with a defense that struggles with... well, defending, the stakes become a little higher. The Wolverines entered the Big Ten opener last in the conference in total defense, allowing an average of 400 yards a game. Yet, in the curious case of a defenseless defense, the same can be said for the Indiana Hoosiers.
Yesterday's game was filled with offensive highlights from both teams, while the majority of the defensive plays were lack luster and unimpressive. Needless to say, when neither team plays good D the game inevitably comes down to who has the ball last. Luckily for the Wolverines the odds were in our favor, and the ball in the hands of the swift moving Robinson.
As for next weeks highly anticipated game against MSU, I won't count the wolverines out. Although State has a stand-out defense and a solid team overall, UM has developed a certain acclaim for last minute game saving plays, and I'm certain with our explosive offense, even if we do take an L, we won't make it easy for the Spartans.
