Sorry, Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels but it seems that you may want to get your clipboards and headsets ready. Brett Favre doesn’t seem to be ready to permanently say goodbye to the game just yet.

That is right; all indications are that Favre will return as the Minnesota Vikings quarterback next season. If Favre does indeed return then 2010-2011 will be his 20th season in the NFL.
Brett returned to Minnesota on Tuesday in a private jet with Steve Hutchinson, Jared Allen, and Ryan Longwell. Hutchinson, Allen, and Longwell are teammates of Favre. The three men originally went to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to convince Brett to return to the Vikings.

It seems as though the three players made a good enough sales pitch to the veteran quarterback because today Foxsports.com reported that Favre told the three players he would play for the Vikings this season.

Now you may wonder how Favre’s Viking teammates would respond to Brett making the decision to join the team after he missed training camp. Well this tweet from Vikings wide receiver Bernard Berrian should tell you all you need to know about the players’ reaction to the idea of having Brett behind center next season in Minnesota.

"Brett Favre for President!!" receiver Bernard Berrian tweeted.

It should be known that the Minnesota Vikings haven’t officially confirmed that Brett Favre will play this year, but the consensus thinking amongst members of the Vikings organization is that Favre didn’t make the trip up to Minnesota to tell the Vikings that he will retire.

The 40 year old quarterback laid to rest any doubt that he could still play in the NFL at a high level last season. In fact, most analysts felt that Brett had one of his best seasons last year as evidenced by his 33 touchdowns, 4,202 passing yards, and his ability to guide the Vikings to the brink of the Super Bowl.

Questions regarding Favre’s health seemed to be the one thing holding the quarterback back from committing to play for the Vikings this season. Brett injured his ankle in the Vikings NFC Championship game loss to the New Orleans Saints. Favre had surgery on the left ankle in June and just last week met with Dr. James Andrews to try to determine why his ankle is still hurting him.

If Favre for some reason does decide not to return to the Minnesota Vikings next season then expect fifth year veteran Tavaris Jackson to begin the season as starting quarterback. Jackson has pretty much been at the mercy of Favre’s decision all offseason regarding whether he would be the Vikings starting quarterback or simply their backup. After being consistently questioned about the “Favre situation” all offseason Jackson finally said “"I feel like if my number's called I'm going to be ready," Jackson said after practice. "And I'm going to continue to try to work hard and get better. That's all I can do."

I would advise Tavaris to be ready because injuries do happen, but as of right now it looks as though Brett is likely to be the man under center for the Vikings in week one.

We all know that he just doesn't want to practice at training camp. That's why he keeps doing this every year. Which is fine as long as the Vikings are okay with it. I am so sick of hearing about Brett Favre and if he is going to return or not. If he comes back great if not see ya later Favre, one can definetly argue that he might be one of the best quarterbacks of all time. Good article Rob, keep them coming!!
