Just a couple days ago I said that the Toronto Raptors were cooling on the idea of doing a sign and trade deal to move Chris Bosh from Toronto. In addition to Toronto’s growing discontent with Bosh’s tweeting and grand standing the main reason Toronto wouldn’t trade Bosh is because they hadn’t found a trade proposal that intrigued them. It now appears that the Raptors have been offered a package deal that they would be willing to trade Bosh for. The team proposing this trade to Toronto is none other than the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The details of the proposed trade between Cleveland and Toronto haven’t been finalized but right now it appears that Toronto would likely get Anderson Varejao and/or J.J. Hickson, Delonte West and Anthony Parker in exchange for trading Chris Bosh. What’s more interesting is that LeBron James has tried to recruit Chris Bosh to play in Cleveland the last couple of weeks and Bosh has said that he would love to play with LeBron. Yes, you would think that this would be the perfect situation for all parties. LeBron James would get a superstar partner to play with him and assist him in his quest to bring an NBA Championship to Cleveland (assuming he stays with the Cavs if the deal happens). Chris Bosh could play for a championship contender, play alongside LeBron James, and get a maximum 6 year $125 million contract.

The only problem with the deal is that while Bosh would love to play with LeBron he doesn’t want to play with him in Cleveland. Bosh says that he would rather play with James in more of a major market such as Miami, Chicago, or New Jersey.

Toronto has stated that they have no interest in doing a sign and trade with Miami. Sources have said that the Heat have no players that the Raptors are interested in. A sign and trade deal with Chicago would most likely be centered around Joakim Noah; while Nets rookie Derrick Favors would likely be a must if New Jersey were to complete a deal with the Cavs.

The only thing that is keeping this deal from happening is the approval of Chris Bosh. I can’t understand why Chris would object to this sign and trade; he is getting everything he could want out of this deal. He would get his maximum contract something he wouldn’t likely get if a team signed him independently. Also, you would have to think that this trade would be the move that would put Cleveland over the top in their effort to resign LeBron. Finally, Cleveland is home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We will have to wait and see if Bosh reconsiders going to Cleveland and gives the ok to the deal. It seems to me though that this is the best scenario that Chris Bosh could hope for. I will keep you posted as the situation progresses.
