There is nothing wrong with an NFL owner commenting on and having confidence in his team. One particular owner though recently raised the bar to the ultimate for his franchise.

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was being honored last Saturday for a donation he made to renovate the field at Miami Beach High School. The owner began talking to reporters about his hopes for the Dolphins next year. Here is what he had to say on the subject.

"I think in February, we will be playing in the Super Bowl," Ross told reporters.

You have to like it when an owner displays confidence in his team, but that is a bold prediction to make. Why would you want to put any undue pressure on Head Coach Tony Sparano? Ross said that he is not worried about that though.

"He (Sparano) thinks that too, and so does every player on the team. You just have to go out and do it," Ross told reporters.

Finally, don’t expect any quarterback controversy in Miami over the course of training camp and preseason. Mr. Ross is very confident with Chad Henne under center for the Dolphins.

"I'm sure, and I'm hoping -- as everybody else is -- that he goes down as the greatest quarterback in Miami Dolphin history. And you know what that will mean," Ross told reporters.

The addition of Brandon Marshall at wide receiver should help Henne this season. I would have to say right now though in regards to who is the best quarterback in Miami Dolphins history that Dan Marino has a stranglehold on the top spot. Chad is still young and hopefully has a long career ahead of him. If he can guide the Dolphins to Super Bowls as Stephen Ross is suggesting, then I’m sure some Miami fans will be ready to put him on the top line.

The AFC East is no stranger to bold predictions. Earlier this offseason New York Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan also predicted that his team would be playing in the Super Bowl next February.

Stephen Ross and the Dolphins had an awesome offseason. As I mentioned earlier they signed Marshall and they also signed linebacker Karlos Dansby. First, Miami should focus on winning the AFC East though, a division that the New England Patriots have won six of the last seven seasons. Nevertheless confidence is at a fever pitch within the Miami Dolphins organization. You can’t win a championship without the attitude of a champion and Stephen Ross definitely has the right attitude.
