- GREAT NEWS: Minor NCAA Tournament Expansion on the way - 04/22/2010 (195 views)
After all the discussion of expanding the Men's College Basketball NCAA Tournament to 96 teams, it appears that the committee has come to grips with a much better solution. A new ESPN report claims that the NCAA Tournament Committee has passed a proposal to expand the field from 65 to 68 teams, and have every game of every round of the tournament broadcasted live over CBS, TBS, and TNT. More information is still to come, and the official vote on the proposal will take place on April 29th. But right now, this proposal is great news and everything that sports fans and program administrators alike could have possibly asked for. Everything about the classic postseason tournament will stay the same, except 3 more teams will be added to play-in games, and every single game will be televised live. It is a pleasant surprise that the NCAA has come to see this proposal as a better idea than the more lucrative 96-team proposal. This expansion is exponentially better and more well thought than the 96-team idea. College basketball fans: be ready to rejoice. The NCAA Tournament is ready to improve for the better, and expand into a new era of the great postseason tournament, while keeping its roots of 60-some teams and 6 round of plays. GREAT NEWS FOR ALL COLLEGE BASKETBALL FANS!
