The Most Outstanding Player of the 2010 Final Four and player who may have raised his NBA Draft stock to an all-time high is returning to school for his senior season. Duke's junior forward Kyle Singler announced his intention to return to Duke on Monday night.

"I love being here at Duke and am excited about next year," said Singler. "I had two great options in front of me, but I did not want to miss out on all of the great things to come in a senior season."

Singler's announcement comes as a surprise to many. After winning an NCAA Championship, winning the Final Four MOP, improving his draft stock, and seeing many of his teammates graduate, it seemed like a no-brainer that Singler would take off for the NBA after 3 great seasons at Duke.

But it appears that Kyle Singler, the 6'8" versatile forward, wants to continue his college experience. Duke will have another strong team next year, despite the loss of 3 senior leaders (Scheyer, Thomas, Zoubek), and the uncertain future of guard Nolan Smith, who may still enter the NBA Draft. Duke has a strong recruiting class coming in, along with a talented group of rising sophomores coming off a championship run. And now, it looks like 2 of the "big 3" may be returning in 2010.

So is Singler's decision to delay his entry into the NBA Draft a good one? This committee of one says it is. Here's 3 reasons why it's a good decision for Kyle to return to Duke:

1. Improve as a scorer and leader - We know that Kyle Singler is as versatile of a forward as you will find in college basketball. His unique skill set will translate to the next level, and he has been considered a top NBA prospect for years now. But his passivity and lack of explosive scoring has hurt Singler's NBA stock the past few years. He's never really been called on to be the official leader of his Duke team, nor has he been considered the top go-to-guy. Next season, Singler will have a chance to showcase himself on both of these levels. If Nolan Smith returns, they will be the co-stars and co-leaders. But if Smith leaves, it's unquestionably Singler's team. Either way, Singler will have a full year at the helm of a top team to quiet the critics and become a true scorer and leader.

2. Another year with Coach K - Some potential NBA stars play in college for rookie coaches, some play with veteran coaches, others play for good coaches, and a rare few play for coaching legends. Duke's Mike Krzyzewski is one of the all-time greats in basketball coaching history, and will certainly leave a lasting impact on Kyle Singler's life, both on and off the court. The opportunity to stay for another year under Coach K's wing is something that cannot be taken for granted. The man will teach him lessons that he will always remember, and it might be extra special as a senior. There's no doubt that Coach K is ecstatic after hearing the news of Singler's return.

"I am looking forward to coaching Kyle in his senior year and seeing him develop more as a player and as a leader," said Krzyzewski.

If you have the option to stay and play for Coach K, it's tough to pass on. He will continue to help Singler progress as a player and a person as he gets ready for life in the NBA.

3. More College, More Fun - Instead of entering into the real world, Kyle Singler can enjoy another year at Duke University. Sometimes we forget that these NBA prospects are real people who live regular college lives. Singler goes to class and has his college friends, and now can enjoy a stress-free senior season as a reigning NCAA Champion. He can devote himself in the gym everyday while also getting a degree from a top university in the country. He can continue to build his legend as a Duke player, a program that has as much history as any college basketball school in the nation. There really is no downside to coming back to college. What Singler leaves on the table is the potential to make millions of dollars in months, and enter into the next phase of his playing career at a pretty good point. But as a healthy, young kid with a good head on his shoulders that can continue to work on his game and enjoy his college years, there's no reason to think that Singler won't have this same opportunity available to him next year.

So, do you think Singler made the right decision to come back to Duke? He's already a champion, he's a surefire first round pick, he's already spent 3 years in college. To me, he's making the right choice. Sure, his stock is high, but it's not as high as it could be. For scouts, there's much left to see from Singler. Another year can only help Kyle Singler as both a player and a person.
