Cincinnati's Stephenson to Enter NBA Draft - 04/07/2010 (122 views)
University of Cincinnati and Lance Stephenson did not have the season most Bearcat fans were hoping. Stephenson, who won Big East freshman of the year, averaging 12.3 points per game and 2.5 led a weak freshman class in the Big East. The highly talented freshman, who was nicknamed "born ready" for his abilities in high school will forgo his Sophomore season and enter the NBA Draft. "I have decided to withdraw from the University of Cincinnati and enter my name into this year's NBA draft," Stephenson said, according to SNY.tv's Adam Zagoria. "After carefully reviewing my options, it is now clear to me that the need to emotionally and financially support my family, especially my young daughter, along with my long-standing and burning passion to play in the NBA, outweighs my desire to return to the University of Cincinnati." Stephenson claimed he was staying in Cincinnati for his Sophomore season earlier in the year, but his latest hiring of an agent shows Stephenson's intent to move on. Stephenson really shined during the last two weeks of his Freshman season. The 6-foot-5 guard from Brooklyn, New York averaged 16.8 points per game and 8.3 rebounds during the end of the season, which included the Big East tournament in his hometown. Stephenson will not have eligibility to return to the college game if he is not chosen at the June 24th draft. According to most draft websites and analysts, stephenson is projected as a second round selection. Was this the right decision? I know Cincinnati coaching staff and fans think not, but Lance "born ready" Stephenson thinks, yes.
