The Philadelphia Phillies extended the World Series to game six with an 8-6 win in game five at Citizen’s Bank Park tonight. Chase Utley deserves most of the credit.

Utley hit a three-run homerun in the first inning off A.J. Burnett to get the game going for the Phillies. He then hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to score Philadelphia’s seventh run and eventual winning run in the game.

That homerun also tied Utley with Reggie Jackson as the only men to hit five homers in a single World Series. Congratulations to Chase Utley for that.

Cliff Lee was not lights out but was good enough to get his second win of the World Series and fourth of the postseason. His shaky start to the eighth inning was cleaned up nicely by Chan Ho Park.

It was interesting to see Ryan Madson get the call to save the game in the ninth, but after Brad Lidge struggled on Sunday night, can you blame Charlie Manuel for going a different direction?

Game six on Wednesday night should be a war. Pedro Martinez will likely get the ball against Andy Pettitte in this contest; another must win for the Phillies. Will the Phillies be able to push the Yankees to the brink or will New York put the final nail in their 27th World Series championship?
