In game three of the NLCS the Philadelphia Phillies got a massively important outing from their ace Cliff Lee to take a 2-1 series advantage. The Phillies needed this type of outing in order to try to stay away from having to use their shaky bullpen.

Lee went eight innings and only allowed three hits. He also struck out 10 Dodgers batters and did not issue a walk. He would have gone all nine innings except for the fact that the Phillies went up 11-0 on a three-run home run from Shane Victorino in the eighth.

With the big lead Charlie Manuel thought it might be a good idea to not push Lee any father past his 114 pitches that he already threw. Chad Durbin came on to work a one-two-three ninth inning to preserve the shutout for the Phillies.

Now Philadelphia will hope that Joe Blanton can keep the string of good starting pitching going for them in game four on Monday night when he squares off against ex-Phillies pitcher Randy Wolf.
