Jeremy Tyler, currently a high school junior at San Diego High, is an extremely talented basketball prospect. According to Rivals.com, the 6'10" Tyler is a 5-star recruit who was supposed to attend Louisville in 2010. Earlier this week, Tyler made the headlines by announcing that he will forgo his senior season at SDHS and play professionally in Europe. I want to know what people think of this because this is the first time a player has skipped his senior year of high school and to play Europe.

After his announcement was made, Tyler was quoted saying "Nowadays people look to college for more off-the-court stuff versus being in the gym and getting better. If you're really focused on getting better, you go play pro somewhere. Pro guys will get you way better than playing against college guys."

In my opinion, he needs to stay in school and, at the very least, finish HS. Playing professionally in Europe is an experience in itself, that I won't deny. College on the other hand, humbles and challenges young athletes (that's assuming the school is not committing any infractions by paying them under the table or hooking them up with "free" stuff).

I'm curious to know what people think about this...

What happens when he signs with a team in Europe and within the first month suffers a career threatening injury? There's nothing to fall back on. He won't even have a high school diploma! With the economy the way it is I would graduate high school and get a full ride to college (if he's the real deal, they will pay him to go to school)!

Wow... What the hell is this kid thinking?! I'm not understanding the logic behind this move. Its not like this move with get him into the NBA faster. He still as to wait another two years.
Well if he's stupid enough to think like this, then he's probably too stupid to graduate from high school, let alone go to college.
